You, The Ocean and Me.
9" x 12"
Pencil, colored pencils and ink on paper.
The project is a process of reflection on some personal experiences and fears.
The waters of the Ocean provide a revolving cast of bit players - fishes and beasts - and through the interaction with these figures the characters emerge. In fact, in a period of my life I've been so connected to these waters in my dreams, which sometimes I think of as a fickle lover, that the sea acts almost like a lens through which I see my characters always in a tension of showing their kindness but also as they constantly fear a danger that will inevitably hunt them, a vision that structures all the drawing bound in this series. In the Ocean resides an entire lifetime of experiences, fears and dedication.
It tells about the hardness of goodbyes and how weak these separations leave us along our lives. Tells about the loneliness of the waitings. About the fear of the Ocean. About a lover's gone forever. About the hunger of an heart and whatever it is that it wants.
By the time I started this project He said things were good and then continued poring sugar into a coffee he never touched again. That was the day I learned is possible to sit on the bottom of the Ocean and don't get wet, so since then I tried to don't ever get this sensitive when I get attached to someone.
